What is cloud computing?

Cloud computing is simply a services of computing services which includes both hardware and software services like servers ,storage ,databases etc.. which are delivered via a network(usually a internet).

Why cloud computing is needed?

In early days, if you created an application an deploy into the web,you need to purchase an hardware servers so that the server will run the web page on World wide web(www) ,so that anyone can access your website through their client request to your server and the requested web page will return to the user(client who requested the web page). However, it is inefficient and expensive because the computing power can be satisfied by 2 and half servers but, you need to buy 3 servers which is costly. So, these are very expensive for people who those only need less computing power.

So, the need to buy a hardware server can be satisfied by cloud computing services. Because, it helps to run software programs on computers without installing them on computers. So, that we can store and share the data without using the main storage of the system.

Examples of cloud computing are gmail , google cloud platform , dropbox , onedrive etc..

WHY ARE WE CONSIDERING TO USE CLOUD COMPUTING?

cloud Storage:

The data is stored in an offsite storage system so that it can be easily accessed via an internet connected device .It allows to sync and share files securely.

EXAMPLES: Google drive ,Microsoft Onedrive.

cloud backup:

When a company experiences a loss of data ,breaching security or server crash, the cloud backup services are needed. So, To achieve the best cloud backup services with real time backup of data ,security, data synchronization and restoration ,many cloud storage services provide cloud backups.

cloud hosting:

It allows to host a website, managing the databases which includes email services ,application hosting etc..

Paying for used services:

It’s one of the best quality is that the user only pay for the space occupied on the storage, its computing power and other resources when you are using the service .If the service went on hiatus, the business owners can pause their support and cease the payment.

Global accessibility and simplicity:

It can be used anywhere at anytime. As the user log in into the account, they can easily reach the storage, manage data and edit the settings.

Cloud providers will take the responsibility of maintaining the services.

TYPE OF CLOUD COMPUTING:

There are 3 main types which are also known as cloud deployment models. They are public, private and hybrid clouds where the user can access it based on their requirements.

1)public cloud

Public cloud is available to anyone who purchases them which is provided by third-party providers through public internet. It can be free or it can be offered through on-demand pricing, includes pay-per-usage model or can through a variety of subscriptions.

It is a Multi-tenant cloud environment where a single instance of software application serves multiple user accounts .A tenant can be an individual user or group of users under an organization.

In this, the users don’t sign the SLA agreement but, they need to follow the guidelines and Terms Of Use. So, Storing sensitive information, it is not possible to negotiate the implementation of extra security levels or receive a personalized offer.

Examples: Microsoft Azure, Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2),Alibaba cloud, IBM cloud, Google cloud.

2)Private cloud

It is also known as Internal or Corporate cloud where the cloud is created and managed by the organization for secure data storage and management .In this, where the computing resources are solely dedicated to a single organization host.

It offers higher security, privacy, improved reliability and more control over the resources.

Depending on who manages the private cloud and where it is hosted, it is classified into 4 major types. They are,

1)Virtual private cloud

2)Managed private cloud

3)Hosted private cloud

4)On-premise private cloud

Examples: VMware, Dell, Oracle, Hewlett Packard Enterprise(HPE)

3)Hybrid cloud

Hybrid cloud is combination of atleast one private and atleast one public cloud , and they can also include on-premise infrastructure. To be a hybrid cloud, these clouds should be tightly interconnected to each other to perform as a single infrastructure.

It has more uses like they can use public cloud for some services or private cloud for some others or public cloud as a backup for private cloud. They can also use public cloud on their high demand while keeping their most operations in their private cloud.

Types of environment found in hybrid cloud:

1)Public cloud

2)On-premise private cloud

3)Hosted private cloud

4)On-premise(Legacy)

How are the clouds communicating with each other?

1)API (Application Programming Interface)

2) VPN (Virtual Private Network)

3)WAN (Wide Area Network)

Without these connections, an organization merely running two or more separate cloud environments in parallel ,won’t give the benefits of hybrid cloud.

Examples: VMware Cloud on AWS, Azure Stack, AWS Outposts.

MAIN SERVICE MODEL OF COMPUTING:

1.Software as a service(SaaS): Instead of installing an application on their device, users can access them on cloud servers through internet. Examples: Salesforce

2. Platform as a service(PaaS): In this, the companies need to pay for the they need to build their own applications. where the vendors offer everything which are necessary for building an application, infrastructure, development tools over the internet.

3. Infrastructure as a service(IaaS): In this, cloud provider offers their storages and servers on rent for the company. They then use that cloud infrastructure to build their applications. Where it is also known as Hardware as a service. IaaS providers include AWS, Rackspace, Tata Communications.

CONCLUSION:

Cloud computing is one of the fastest growing markets over the last six years, and this trend will sure continue in coming decade. Top cloud computing companies like Amazon Web Services(AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Alibaba cloud and IBM cloud are spending in this cloud technology, So, it’s clear that the technology will come with more innovation in upcoming years.

It has wide applications in Banking and Financial Services, Healthcare, Entertainment, Retail, Automotive, Real Estate and Insurance. So, this will create a revolutionary future in the world.
